Daily Care and Maintenance

Regular maintenance is the simplest way to keep your VITRUM benchtop shiny and radiantly beautiful for many years.

Daily cleaning with VITRUM Sanitize spray cleaner and a micro fibre cloth is the best option to keep your benchtop clean. Alternatively, a damp cloth combined with a little dishwashing liquid and water can also be used.

If more intensive cleaning is required, we recommend VITRUM Crema cream cleanser. Rub VITRUM Crema on the affected area with a soft sponge and water and then wipe off excess water and cleanser with a dry micro fibre cloth. Rinsing of the wet micro fibre cloth may have to be repeated to remove excess water and cleanser.

Spilt drinks and/or food should be cleaned as quickly as possible. Due to the aggressive characteristics of some foods/drink, for example coffee, tea, curry etc. it is wise to clean immediately or, shortly thereafter as they become difficult to remove once dry.

Materials that harden after drying such as chewing gum, mustard, grease, should be first scraped off using a plastic scraper or, a flat blade. (Flat part of the blade should be used, not the pointy sharp end) and then cleaned with warm water and a cloth.

Your benchtop, when installed, will be covered with a protective film to assist when transporting the benchtop to your home. This film leaves a residue on your benchtop which means liquids, stick to the surface making the stains or marks, harder to remove. We recommend cleaning your entire benchtop/s area, using VITRUM Crema immediately after installation, or before your benchtops are to be used for the first time, to remove the residue left from the plastic film. Follow the steps mentioned above regarding intensive cleaning.

CHEMICALS OR STAINING AGENTS

In the event the stone is exposed to chemicals, solvents or agents that are likely to damage the surface, immediate steps should be taken to clean the surface thoroughly with warm soapy water. Stains should be dealt with urgently as the longer the exposure, the greater the chance of permanent damage.

Do not expose to industrial or chemical concentrates or solvent based pigments and/or harsh cleaning products, such as drain cleaners, or oven cleaners. And under no circumstances should abrasive products be used on the stone.
